Waymo Secures $16 Billion Funding at $110 Billion Valuation, Backed Heavily by Alphabet
Waymo, Alphabet's autonomous driving subsidiary, is finalizing a $16 billion funding round that catapults its valuation to $110 billion—more than double its October 2024 valuation of $45 billion. Alphabet is committing over 75% of the capital, with participation from Sequoia Capital, Dragoneer, DST Global, Andreessen Horowitz, and Mubadala.
The company has logged 20 million rides and 125 million autonomous miles, with plans to scale to 1 million paid weekly rides by 2026. Its annual recurring revenue now exceeds $350 million as it expands operations in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Miami.
The timing underscores Alphabet's strategic focus ahead of its February 4 earnings call. Waymo now ranks among the world's most valuable private tech firms, signaling growing confidence in autonomous mobility.
